2016 US Military Pay

 

US Military pay rank can seem complicating if you have no idea of how the US Military works. Since the US Military pays its personnel according to rank and amount of service time here?s some information on military pay rank for entry level jobs in the United States military. It is important to know that the US military also maintains other modifiers when it comes to their military pay rank. Some of the factors that can altar a personnel?s pay includes, Imminent Danger Pay or combat pay, Hazardous Pay, Submarine Duty Pay along with a few others. Apart from these, there are also allowances that are provided to US military personnel such as, allowances for cost of living, housing clothing.

The Army

Soldiers receive a monthly salary at a rate which is determined by their US Military pay rank.

? Private > $1,500
? Private 2nd Class> $1,700
? Private 1st Class > $1,800
? Specialist or Corporal > $2,000
? Sergeant > $2,280
? Staff Sergeant > $2,400

Military Officers

The salaries of officers are also based on rank and years of service. The following are some estimates of military pay rank and corresponding salaries.

? Second Lieutenant > $2,900
? First Lieutenant > $3,400
? Captain > $3,900
? Major > $4,500
? Lieutenant Colonel > $5,200
? Colonel > $6,200
? Brigadier General > $8,200
? Major General > $9,900
? Lieutenant General > $14,000
? General > $16,000
? General of the Army > $16,000

The Navy

Seamen are eligible for advancement from E-1 to E-2 after nine months of service, and from E-2 to E-3 after another nine months. From then on, seaman can advance from E-3 to E-4 after a subsequent six months.

? Seaman Recruit > $1,566
? Seaman Apprentice > $1,750
? Seaman > $1,800
? Petty Officer 3rd Class > $2,000
? Petty Officer 2nd Class > $2,200

Navy Officers

The salaries of officers are also based on rank and years of service. The following are some estimates of military pay rank and corresponding salaries.

? Ensign > $2,970
? Lieutenant Junior Grade> $3,420
? Lieutenant > $3,960
? Lieutenant Commander > $4,500
? Commander > $5,200
? Captain> $6,260
? Rear Admiral > $9,900
? Vice Admiral > $14,000
? Admiral > $16,000

The Air Force

Base pay depends on various factors such as rank, dependents and location. Enlisted personnel are “E” grades ranging from E-1 to E-9. Their salary is paired with medical and dental care, housing and education allowance, and retirement benefits.

? Airman > $ 1,700
? Airman First Class > $1,800
? Senior Airman > $2,000
? Staff Sergeant > $2,200
? Technical Sergeant > $2,400
? Master Sergeant > $2,800
? Chief Master Sergeant > $4,900

Air Force Officers

The salaries of officers are also based on rank and years of service. The following are some estimates of military pay rank and corresponding salaries.

? Second Lieutenant > $ 2,900
? First Lieutenant > $3,400
? Captain > $3,900
? Major > $4,500
? Lieutenant Colonel > $5,200

It should be noted here that we haven?t mentioned each and every military pay rank and their corresponding pay. Some ranks have been dropped intentionally due to having identical pay rates.
