1. Commit to this in your mind. You are dedicating several years of your life to serving your country with the United States Military. With this amazing decision, you will receive an education, top-level training, stellar benefits and an incredible sense of pride that comes with being a part of the US Armed Forces. This may also become a lifelong career.
2. Look the part. For men, go ahead and cut that hair. A full buzz cut is not required, but long flowing locks when you show up may get the kind of attention that you do not want. Be memorable to your officers on merit, not appearance.
3. Drop the donut and hit the ground running. Think you?re in great shape now? Basic training is one of the hardest physical things you may ever have to endure. The more you can prepare your body and mind ahead of time, the better off both will be. You will be pushed to the breaking point and beyond every day. No one will take it easy on you, but the better physical and mental shape you’re in, the less difficult it will be.
