Active Duty Military Lodging Benefits

March 27, 2008 By admin

If you travel a lot and you are either on Active Duty or a Veteran, there is a benefit that many people forget to investigate, or are even unaware that it even exists. That is the benefit for reduced lodging at many hotels and motels. Even if you are not traveling in uniform, if you have a valid Military ID card, you can often wind up paying far less for a hotel or motel room if you inquire if they have a military discount. These discounts are often not advertised, and in some locations even if you are traveling in uniform, if you don’t ask about a possible military discount or military rate, then the place you are staying may not ask. Knowing that a potential discount or benefit is possible is having the battle.

Most Inns, motels and hotels in America, as well as internationally have some sort of a price break for military Servicemembers who stay with them. The savings that you can realize by using a military discount can be considerable, and you can sometimes upsize to the next size room or even a suite for no more than you would normally pay for a regular size room.

It pays to ask, and if you inquire and there is no military rate available, then try to find someplace where you are staying that does offer a military discount.

Another type of lodging that does not get a lot of press exposure is using a military hotel. Military hotels are not super prevalent in America, but they are out there in some areas. The savings by staying at a military hotel can be as much as 40 or even 50 percent off the typical room, The costs for many military hotels is a flat $25 dollars, this type of pricing makes a person smile. As long as a person stays in the service they will be eligible for lodging savings at many of the big chains of hotels, and motels.

If you are traveling with your family, finding a place with a military service discount can be even more important. Traveling with a larger family can be a headache, and it can be very expensive. Accessing a travel discount can make travel costs a lot more accessible for the average military Servicemember, and the ability to enjoy trips a lot more.

    Dont stay at Best Western
I am retired and was just looking at Best Western Dewey Beach Delaware. They are charging military the 188 and all other rates are 122. I even called to see if it was a typo but it is not, looked at other location too, they did offer the managers special 108 when I complained. Makes me so mad I will never stay at a Best Western again.
Is this the way they are treating our service men and women? I and 58 and was in the military for 7 active and 16 active reserve. Back in my youth it was the best rates( they respected the military) but now I will not be fooled into paying more from this chainor any other. Someone needs to let our troops know this.
Sorry to complain but thought you should know.
