There are many different kinds of aircraft which are used to get troops and equipment from one place to another in the United States Marine Corps. These aircraft must be properly coordinated at all times. If they are not, there can be problems including collisions on the ground and in the air. This is just one of the many reasons why the Air Traffic Radar Approach Control position is such an important one in the US Marines.
What You Will Do
Whenever you work in this position, a large part of your responsibility will be to make sure that the aircraft on approach to the airfield will be properly identified. You will help in making sure that any threats are properly labeled as such so that they can be tagged accordingly. You will also help in the coordination of the aircraft which are taking off and landing. You will help to make sure that there are no collisions as well as to make sure that every flight is on time.
Get the Training
Whenever you are working in this position, you will need to have a Secret security clearance. This will help you to be able to protect all of the information which is being used to coordinate flights and protect those in the flight fields. You will learn everything that you need to know in simulations and through on the job training techniques.
