Angel Flight Travel Support For Active Military Members

November 27, 2008 By admin

While originally started for Veterans, dependants of Veterans and others who have served their country in the past and need medical transportation. This is a group of military supporters and Veterans that are pilots. They joined together to help meet an identified need. Military retired, and their dependants, and this is a service support organization that has assisted thousands of patients travel to their destination for medical reasons over the years.

This is a program that gives a great deal of timely service and support to different Servicemembers that need the support. They serve to give medically necessary transportation to those who require medical treatment; travel for medical treatment, and for loved ones of Veterans needing travel when necessary. There are different programs that are available that provides low cost medical transportation for military Servicemembers that require travel to different locations for medical treatment. Angel Flight was formed to give medical transportation to those who are the most in need, to support medical treatment directly, or to support transportation in order to receive treatment.

This is a program that is funded by donations, and it is based through the National Veterans Patient Travel Center. The Center helps match prospective travel candidates with pilots who provide the travel services, often with their own aircraft. The military doesn?t have support to assist Veterans with some of their travel and necessary service needs, but there are private civilian programs that provide programs available that do have the means to assist individual Servicemembers with travel needs. Servicemembers sometimes have to travel for personal reasons, or for medical reasons. Sometimes this is after leaving the military; they can sometimes not have the means to travel to the medication or surgery site. It has saved many different Veterans a lot of money and assisted them in their travel needs for surgery and necessary medical reasons.

I am a disabled veteran seeking air transportation to obtain some documents I have in storage. I am scheduled for another surgical procedure on March 15th, I am in need of the documents for my doctors before the surgery. Due to my disability I must have my daughter and granddaughter travel with me to help locate the documents and assist me when needed. Physically, I will be unable to lift those items in storage to obtain the papers. Because I am still going through pre-surgical testing the best time for me to travel before the surgery will be the first week of March. I have braces on both knees, a nd a cam walker on my left foot. I had three stokes and a history of severe anxiety attacks along with ishemia, I have several other health problems including diabetes. If you can please extend to me the assistance needed to travel across country I will greatly appreciate your generosity.
