Armed Forces Vacation Club Offers Huge Benefits

January 21, 2008 By admin

One of the amenities for Military Servicemembers who are traveling or planning a vacation is the Armed Forces Vacation Club.? The AFVC is a program that is ran by the DoD and gives military and affiliated personnel a chance to rent condominiums at sites and resorts around the world for a set weekly rate.? The rate is normally about Three hundred twenty nine dollars, per unit per week. This is possible by using the excess inventory available at resorts that offer timeshares.? Excess meant that it is rooms that owners of timeshares would not be otherwise using at that time, such as off-season or short notice type travel arrangements.

If you are a person that enjoys visiting places that are not the popular times of the year, this may be an advantage to you. The Dod first tested this program in limited form in the Washington DC area in 1999.? The new program of condominium rental proved to be so overwhelmingly popular that they started the process to roll it out worldwide later that year, in November 1999.? It was begun for the first time in Europe in 2001.

Active duty, Uniformed Servicemembers, Retired or ready reserves, and National Guard Servicemember qualify for this program.? The most popular rentals are the seven-day programs in Latin and Central American, and selected locations in Europe.? There are normally two dozen countries with condominium offerings on the list at any given time.

Condominium Rentals generally have a full kitchen, and a stove and refrigerator, and other amenities normally found in the average household. Many of the sites provide amenities that are not found in typical hotel or motel stays. If staying at a resort then any regular guest access is available to local recreation facilities, fitness centers, and other sites.? Skiing and Golfing are often available on site or nearby.? If you consider resorts often have a wide variety of other recreational activities available close by, then this becomes a very attractive vacation option for many Servicemembers and military personnel looking to get away and relax.

Sometimes if the resort is still in active sales you may have an opportunity to receive a free gift of some sort if you choose to sit through a sales presentation.? This is strictly OPTIONAL, and not something you have to be concerned about.? Its voluntary only, and not required of you to stay at the site.
