Army Textile And Clothing Repair Jobs

The Army enlisted Clothing and Textile Repair is a little known specialty but one that is in its own way is vital to the smooth operations of the modern US Army. As enlisted Clothing repair specialist you will work with both uniforms, clothing and different textiles and laundry supplies. You will be responsible for shower, laundry, and clothing and personal decontamination functions. You will work to do laundry and decontaminate various facilities, materials and personnel as required by the Army. This is a job that involves dealing with a lot of different repair and specialized textile equipment, and the Army gives an enlisted specialist training and support in performance of their mission.

Part of your duties and responsibilities will include: organizing and coordination of personnel through shower facilities during decontamination and delousing from various causes. Some of the duties you will perform as an Army Enlisted Textile specialist will include; sorting between items that can be cleaned, washed and decontaminated, conducting various Army authorized clothing exchanges with bag operations, working on decontamination and delousing equipment, operating mobile washers, dryers, receiving individual and bulk laundry, sorting and issuing equipment and laundry items, reviewing the accuracy of laundry lists and bundle counts, and finally identifying items that are beyond repair or cleaning. Serving in this specialty is the specialty that will help clean and restore troops should a chemical or biological attack occur.
At times there are those Servicemembers that believe that working as a Laundry and Textile clothing repair and decontamination specialist is a simplified job. It?s not. It is a job that works to support and perform different duties that are vital for the US Army mission. As a textile, laundry and clothing decontamination and repair specialist in the Army you will learn how to deal with a variety of situations. You will learn how to assist with in the field troop decontamination, supervising various types of laundry preventative maintenance in shower, delousing, laundry and decontamination equipment.

You will attend individual advanced training for six weeks where you will learn how to perform the duties and skills necessary for your Clothing and Textile repair specialist job. As part of your job, you will learn to set up mobile laundry and shower facilities in the field. A element of your training will be to learn from different situations, your training will be in the classroom and part of your training will be in the field, learning on the job.
