Aviation Army Jump School Education

June 19, 2008 By admin

There are a number of different programs in the military that require knowing how to parachute from a perfectly good airplane safely and land on the ground. The different services that require this skill are often known for their missions and after serving in the military many of these personnel take their skills and work for civilian training schools. But many of the members of the military that learn how to parachute learn their skills at the US Army Airborne Jump School. The United States Army Airborne 1st Battalion, 507th Infantry unit is the training unit that is in charge of the Airborne Jump School. The Army has conducted the Jump school for many years, training personnel in the different procedures to jump safely.

The Airborne School is the school that runs personnel through the paces teaching them how to parachute efficiently and safely. All four main branches of the United States Military have representatives that serve on detachment with the Army Jump School. Instructors at the Army Airborne represent all four branches, the Navy, Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps, and they teach students in the finer points of how to parachute. There are other skills taught at the Army Jump School, the instructors are known all as Black Hats or “Sergeant Airborne.” The Army teaches the basics, and they have a history of effectively teaching people how to jump out of airplanes, with the proper safeguards, and to jump safely. The skills that they are taught are how to pack their chutes, and how to parachute from an airplane correctly, and how to land correctly. The students, whether they serve in the Army or in one of the other sister services learn how to parachute and the other skills that are taught by the Army Jump School. Anyone with a military mission that has a requirement to parachute can attend the Army school. Delivery by parachute gives the flexibility to members of the United States Military to arrive silently on foot, because of difficult or dangerous terrain, or other conditions or situations on the ground.

Even Navy SEALS often attend the Army Jump School at Fort Benning, Georgia. There are a lot of different personnel, such as Navy hospital corpsmen, small boat crew, aviation crewmembers, and other specialist personnel. The Jump School is an advanced course, but it is also a routine element of training for many different crew members.
