Become a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer in the National Guard

If you enjoy working with your hands, there are multiple positions in the Army National Guard that are well suited to your skills. One of the most popular is Power-Generation Equipment Repairer. As the title suggests, when you join this profession you are in charge of repairing equipment related to power generation. Not only is this important to the overall smooth operation of the National Guard, but adding this specialty to your resume can go a long way in helping you land a better job in the future.

As a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer, you will do your part in ensuring that the Guard receives the electricity needed to serve the nation. Day after day, you will take part in tasks related to repairing and maintaining electricity-generating equipment in both stationary and mobile power plants.

During your time as a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer, you will develop the skills that are currently in demand by today?s hiring companies. Some of these skills include but are not limited to: electrical generation, diesel generator operation, generator and power plant operations, inspection, and maintenance. In short, when you join the National Guard you are preparing yourself for a future career as a power plant electrician. This career path will allow you to put your skills to good use while earning an above average income in a high paced environment.

Earn and Learn

When you become part of the Army National Guard you are in position to earn money while learning through on the job training as well as other methods. For example, you will qualify for tuition assistance (more on this below). With this, you can attend college while earning a paycheck from the Guard and receiving firsthand experience. What more could you want?

Training to become a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer

If you want to become a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer you will first attend 10 weeks of Basic Training. During this stint, you will learn basic soldiering skills. From there, you will move onto 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. This is when you will master the skills needed to achieve greatness in your chosen career path. During these 12 weeks, you will spend part of your time in the field and the other part learning in the classroom.

Power-Generation Equipment Repairer Benefits

Like all positions in the Army National Guard, you will receive many benefits when you decide to enlist as a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer.

– Paid training

– Tuition assistance for vocational training or college credits

Power-Generation Equipment Repairer Requirements

Although not everybody qualifies to join the National Guard, most people do. Here are the basic requirements for becoming a Power-Generation Equipment Repairer:

– High school diploma or GED

– Between the age of 17 and 35

– Ability to pass a physical exam while meeting all moral and legal standards

– Meet all citizenship requirements
