Camping Vacations In Pensacola

February 26, 2008 By admin

There are many different locations and things to do when you are on vacation. Some of the best are to venture out and try camping. The region of Pensacola Florida has many different sites that are attractive to families looking to vacation. The whole Pensacola region is available for military families to access through Space Available flights, one of the destinations for Space A is in Pensacola itself. There is also access via the many highways and roads into the area.

Pensacola is home to many things to see and do. It features white beaches, and is known for its stunning sunsets. Pensacola is the home to the Navy’s Blue Angels, the flight demonstration squadron for the United States Navy. There are also two Navy sponsored campgrounds in the Pensacola region, managed by the Moral, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) office of the Navy. These are comfortable, easy to access vacation opportunities for families that want to try something different.

Pensacola Naval Air Station Oak Grove Park, and Corry Station Blue Angel Navy Recreation Area are the two campgrounds, which provide rest and recreation for those that wish to travel to Pensacola and try camping. There are different camping opportunities available; some of them are located in the trees along the beach of the Intra-Costal waterway.

The campground at Oak Park features camper sites for the Recreational Vehicle, including some with full sewer, water, and electrical hookups. There are some other sites including basic tent sites that are located under Oak trees located directly on the beach. The Oak Park campground also offers cable television hookup, a customer laundry and bathhouse. We get a lot of snowbirds from up north, they came early this year, said Campground Hosts Dave and Sybil Jones.

The Campground at Oak Park hosts visitors from around the world, but this year residents of Vermont, Washington State, and other locations from around New England have been visitors. When the weather is colder in the north, the activity in camping in Florida increases. Oak Park Campground is located close to the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and cottages are available for rent at the campground from $85 dollars to just over $100 dollars a day.

The other campground for military use in Pensacola is located on Perdido Bay. The Navy Blue Angel Recreation area has camping with electricity and water hookups. You can find various accommodations from rough primitive tent sites to RV hookups for those who seek more plush accommodations.

    Hi
My son is stationed there in the Navy. We are visiting in August and we were wondering if this campground is open to families of serviceman. Also we would like to know if we would be able to come and go freely or would he have to escort us to and from the campground

    Thank you
