Christmas Gift Of WWF Arrives In Iraq

December 14, 2007 By admin

Wrestlers Visit Troops And Bring Holiday Cheer

Many people who are celebrities do not take the time or effort to serve with the USO or to visit our troops serving in Afghanistan or Iraq this holiday season.? But not the WWE.

Performers, wrestlers and support staff from the World Wrestling Federation visited Iraq and gave a Christmas performance for troops stationed in Iraq December 5th through December 7th.

The entire visit was to help encourage and boost the morale of soldiers and to show appreciation for the Service members, men and woman serving in uniform, and for their families holding the fort at home also.

The very least that we can accomplish is to travel here and let you know everyone in American supports you, loves you, and to show you a little American said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman.

The group spent twenty hours on a flight from the United States to the region.? When they arrived they went to different bases in Balad, Tikrit, Mosul, Tarmiyha, and Taji. Overall they visited more than twenty different bases.? Wrestlers signed autographs, visited with soldiers, and worked to show the troops how much their service was appreciated.

Superstars from the WWE didn’t just spend time in secured areas signing autographs, but they also got outside the wire into the combat zone to visit troops in small patrol bases, braving the dangers of Iraq to thank troops for their service.

It was the first trip for Chris Jericho. Jericho is a superstar Wrestler with the WWE. I did not know exactly what to expect, I just wanted to come and thank the troops.

I am a huge WWE fan and I am very excited about the WWE coming to Balad. It’s a real treat to see how much Mr. McMahon and the wrestlers of the WWE care for and support the troops. I have so many fond memeories of my family going to wrestling events and sitting around the tv on saturday mornings watching legends such as Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. This will always have a special place in my memories and heart. Thank you so much for coming here this holiday season to be with us.
