Enlisted Naval Submarine Service Careers

One of the more elite service specialities in the United States Armed Services is the enlisted Submariners career ratings. To join the famed Submariner ranks you have to be a person who is literally at the top of your game, you are a person that is able to function well under stress, and someone that deals well in cramped and crowded conditions. Enlisted personnel and Officers that are selected to be US Navy Submariners are among the finest personnel to be found in the entire US Armed forces, and they uphold a long proud and fine tradition of Servicemembers who have preceded them over the last sixty years of United States Navy History.

To even be selected to serve on a United States Navy Submarine you have to compete, the billets and job ratings found on a modern US Navy Submarine are highly competitive, the sailors that win postings to Submarines are literally the crème of the US Navy fleet. The United States Navy maintains the most advanced fleet of submarines in the entire world, ballistic missile submarines, guided missile submarines, attack submarines, as well as a wide number of other types of Submarines. Most of the United States Navy Submarine fleet are composed of Nuclear powered Submarines, they work to patrol the oceans of the world at will, hiding out and serving as a deterrent to aggression in seas and oceans around the globe. US Submarines patrol and gather information, they are literally close to being invisible and they monitor and keep tabs on different military and enemy activity found around the world. Navy Submarines interpret and intercept electronic messages and communications, and they serve as a highly mobile delivery platform, of high tech weaponry and of personnel. Many times Submarines serve as the delivery vehicle for Special Operations soldiers, they can glide silently up to the offshore position to any continent in the world, and release highly trained Navy SEALs and Special Operations personnel. The Submarine Service and by extension its submarines is the most stealthy, most important deterrent that the United States has in its arsenal.

Serving aboard a United States Navy Submarine is highly competitive, you will be selected depending upon your rating for service based on the needs of the Navy. One of the best methods of gaining access to US Military Navy Submariners service is to qualify as a Nuclear enlisted power specialist, but this is highly competitive and requires advanced math and science skills.
