The Submarine Service is the most varied service in the entire US Navy. The modern Submarine Service in the United States Navy provides the creed, ?Run Silent Run Deep.? Part of the main focus on the Submarine Service is that it can operate without being spotted, and it can function without surfacing for weeks at a time. Joining the Navy you will attend Boot camp for 9 weeks at the Great Lakes US Navy basic training Center, If you are able to qualify for Submarine service, then you will wind up attending the Navy Basic Enlisted Submarine School.
It is an educational program and a complex series of courses that features different situations that a person could typically encounter on Service in the US Navy on board a Submarine. It has a program that assists a Servicemember to develop the skills and education necessary to serve on any of the submarines in the U.S. Fleet.
Serving in the US Navy in the Submariner Service is very very competitive. Everyone that serves on board a US Submarine must pass a very serious background check, and be qualified to pass a TOP Secret security clearance. Working on board a Submarine is intensive, you work in close quarters, and you must be a person that is easy going, and slow to anger. Training is intense, and they use many real life type situations that simulate actual Navy battle conditions. Sailors participate in an exercise during their program, which mimics a leaking vessel.
Damage control is only one aspect of the different types of training that is available at Submarine school. Each new training class that comes in with raw Navy Submarine Recruits are taken by the trainers, and they are devoted to teaching the skills and information needed. Many of the new sailors are just out of boot camp and pretty green behind the ears. No matter what the nature of the damage control situation, the staff and trainers of the Navy Submarine School are there to make sure that mistakes are corrected, that everyone learns what they do wrong, and that most of all everyone is kept safe.
The Enlisted Submarine School is a valuable experience and one that is designed to help give a prospective submarine sailor the necessary training and seasoning to serve beneath the ocean. Most of the US Submarine fleet carries Nuclear Weapons, and it is their ability to sink beneath the waves, and remain undetected that provides much of our nuclear deterrent.
