Exciting Career as a Navy Avionics Technician

April 22, 2010 By admin

One of the more exciting careers in the United States Military is flying jets on and off of an aircraft carrier. The thrill is in the danger, but you know you are safe because of the efforts of those who maintain all of the electrical equipment onboard the jet. The job of maintaining all of this equipment is a highly rewarding job field because you will be making it possible for the pilots to safely complete their missions every day. Working as a Navy Avionics Technician means making sure the Navy pilots can do their job safely.

Working on Communications Systems

just one of the many roles you will be filling is to make sure the communications systems on the jets are working properly. This is in addition to the radar and other systems which help the pilot to know exactly where they are and what dangers they have ahead of them. You will be helping each pilot to make sure they are not flying blindly into danger.

Working on Essential Equipment

Another function of your job will be to make sure all of the equipment for breathing and steering the aircraft are working properly. You will learn to troubleshoot most any electrical and electronic problem the aircraft might encounter so that the aircraft will be flight-worthy when necessary.

You will also be helping to make sure the all-important tow gear is working properly. This is the mechanism which allows the aircraft to land safely onboard the aircraft carrier after the mission is complete.
