In California when you register to vote you have to register as either a Democrat or a Republican. They have the Green Party for those who do not have an afilliation. Here in Texas we Texans register to vote - we're not asked if we're Rebuplicans of Democrats. Then when the primarys arrive we can choose which party we want to vote for and we must vote that way for all primarys until the 31st of Dec, but we can vote our choice in a General Election. To me California is stacking the deck for their electorial college. My sister made a decision to vote Republican last Tuesday, but since she had registered Democrat, she had to vote Democrat - a couple of her friends refused to vote because they were registered Democrats, but wanted to vote Republican but couldn't - looks to me like somewhere along the line we've lost some rights.
