Hello,

Its June and I just read your concerns. I am NCS too. I did my active term and I just past my 2 year mark in the Reserves. Im not sure what your son's rate is but these are/were my options. Ok the only way I could stay active duty, I had to be stationed with the Marines that were deployable. If your not you're out. Your son probably got a nice bonus and the reason this program was made was to get more people in the Reserves, because it is undermanned. Once your son hits Reserves unlike people who reenlist for the Reserves are not waived for 2 years from deployment. So at any time he can deploy which the Reserves love to deploy people. Now there are many options once you hit reserves. If he really likes active duty he first has to do 2 years of Reserves first then he can reenlist. But I know a way around this. Tell your son go to all the OSO's possible and chiefs in his work area and tell them he wants ADSW (Active Duty) the longest he can do it is 179 but take a day off and do another 179 days. So go to OSO's and chiefs and tell them you need ADSW and they should hook you up as long as there location can afford it. Being that he is a low pay grade and hopefully has good experience this should get him in. Good Luck
