Default Thankful and Proud

No matter how one feels about whether or not we should be there, I'm thankful and proud that there are men and women willing to go. They are going for us, for our right to stay at home and watch the news about it on the TV and for the right to speak our minds on the subject. God Bless America, and God Bless our soldiers and sailors!

Default Wow - you are in the thick of it!

Well Iskynet, from the looks of where you are located, you are one person who should have a good feel for how things REALLY are there... There are lots of people here in the states who think we shouldn't be in Iraq, and lots of people who agree that we should be there - But I think we ALL are aware of the sacrifice that our men and women are making for us. I like to think so anyway! It sure makes for tricky dinner conversation!

Keep your head down and keep your hopes high!
Tell us how locals in your area feel about the US in Iraq...

people's opinions here mostly divided on two groups - the first group thinks that ANY fighting against terrorists wherever they are is justified , including US fighting in Afganistan and Iraq , and as far as I see most people have this opinion , and of course there is other group that think that there should be peace at any cost , even the cost of letting extremists do what they want.. it seems that those people think one can reason with fanatics

Iskynet:
peace even at the cost of allowing the extremist do what they wish is not peace. Stay safe!

Default here is my opinion!!!

people scared of the war are to me scared of death....to be scared of death is to be afraid of life..... to give up hope for the men and women who are fighting for the freedoms we have is automatically saying that the Taliban have WON. im sorry but they havent and they wont.. i am proud and thankfull that there are men and women who risk their lives for me and my family every day over seas... i love this counrty and wouldnt give it up for the world.. Stay strong and keep the hope that drives all the men and women to keep fighting day to day...

Exclamation history repeats itself....

ok ok...i know everyone is entitled to their opinion on the war on terror but i grew up on a military base all throughout the Gulf War while my father was over seas...he came back proud, he'd served in the army for 8 yrs. and the ended his career...now days, he's not so proud...mission NOT accomplished..
but enough of that....let's do a small over view of history...

the U.S. killed people in Guatamala for fruit...it's history learn it!!!!
the U.S. has influenced and funded terrorist actions all through out Latin and South America....read a book...
Feel free to explore the history of U.S. interest in Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and Mexico to name a few.....and let's not forget Cuba!!!
we still keep are embargo because of some Russian missiles that stayed there for some weeks and the Russians took them back. and then repeled U.S. forces at the Bay of Pigs..but we still keep the embargo....even though we've helped to rebuild our enemies nations like Germany and Japan, we keep Cuba's economic system under our thumb because they have no interest in America's capitalism....
the U.S. secretly bombed Cambodia, while the Vietnam war was coming to and end, the death toll will never be known....ironically, American soldiers fought for a War the South Vietnamese weren't even interested in....we should show some respect to our enemies who refuse to comprimise because it's within OUR interest....espescially when we've been bombing and starving them since 1991....oh yeah, and we also helped Saddam into power. FACT.
and then kept him there until we had all our pawns into place, go ahead, ask an Iraqi....let's not foret that we couldn't find the WMD's, not even the one's we sold him......
alright, apparently i've got too much on my mind....but let's keep this in perspective...history is written by those who've slain heroes.....and propaganda is not history, just advertising....

I trully love America, I was born here, and i'd love nothing more than to die of natural causes here, i've always wanted to serve my country, my child hood fantasy was being a great general, but the fact that history has been made and simply needs to be reread so we can gain more perspective on what's happening....even Winston Churchill condoned the poison gasing of tribes in the Middle East.....oh yeah, Bush SR. sits at the head of OPEC, that's big oil business for you kids...

if America wants to stop terrorism, the first step is to stop participating in terrorism.

Yeah but that's all politics - I'm just thankful (still) that there are men and women who are willing (and even those that WANT to) to go over and fight whatever fight the politicians tell them (and us) is the flavor of the year. Politicians will always do what they do. What changes is whether the American public is outraged or happy over any particular issue or not which may or may not get the politicians to sit up and take notice.

Attn: NavySailor06 - LOVE that phrase: to be scared of death is to be scared of life. Very very true.

Thumbs down collateral damage works both ways

i guess death is politics as long as you don't lose someone you love....when some brown skinned person in another country is slaughtered in the hundrends and thousands, it's politics, but when some "economically viable" American dies it's a tragedy right?....i'am a son of a veteran of a foreign war, and when i go down to the VFW where all the vets relax and recollect, and unfortunately, refelect on the 6th command, THOU SHALT NOT KILL....and like ISKYNET said, "fanatics," which is just a crude word for spiritually devote people, hopefully you'll recognize the fact that Abraham, Moses, Job, Jesus, Mohhamid and most characters in the Holy Scriptures of each religion is a fanatic, willing to die or kill for their beliefs...hence this war envelopes not only politics, which can be dismissed as not YOUR problem, but also spirituality, which is YOUR problem, and by you, i mean anyone reading this message. whether you chose to live, die, or kill for your superhero in the sky is between you and your beliefs...but you must recognize the fact that our ally in the Middle East is Isreal, which is a fundamentally Jewish nation....this simple fact represents a morale quagmire for myself because i feel "God" has no place in war time....for any country, so please, try not to ***ume a friendly relationship between God and yourself while chanting on the deaths of his children, or praising those pulling triggers or dropping bombs....
by the way, reality check....Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, Osama,Afghanistan, or the Taliban, so there is no reason for our troops to be there...so stop your internal dialogue on justifying the murder of men women and children so the rich get richer and you don't have to pay too much for gas....

and since some of you are fond of qoutes, here's one or two for you, sort of an equation if you will...

If "A" tries to impose his will on "B," "A" is most likely a scoudrel.

money > you you < money
