Default Iraq War

From the army point of view when do you think we should withdraw ?

I don't think we should come out of there unless we have won the war completely and throw those terrorist out of Iraq.

Please, that idea is unworkable. Half of the Iraqis are terrorists by that definition.

you need education, business and industry right? How is the situation with your infrastructures such as roads, electricity, water etc? We hear things but we never know exactly how it really is.

I agree here, not just that all of Iraq is terroists, but that there are always going to be people with ideas that differ from our idea of freedom. The reason that we are never going to be able to push them completly out of Iraq is that for them it is a way of life. They are born and raised to hate us, and any idea of freedom or democracy. What we need to do is continue to support Iraq, but at the same time build up their government and there police force / military. This way they will end up being able to support themselves, and to put down the terroist threat themselves, and not have to rely on help from other countries.

Default Military View of Iraq

Personally, I feel we should not pull out until the Democracy we are setting up over there is ready to stand on it's own. That does not mean we need to chase every terrorist out of the counrty, for terrorists will always be in every country. What I'm saying is that we need help the appropriate Iraqi people take charge of their own country, and help them grow strong enough to withstand the terrorist on their own.

Muhhamed Ali, I respect your feelings and observations greatly, however, when I was in Iraq, many of the Iraqi people were very welcoming to us, and helped us pick out the terrorists from the civilians. I dont know what part detachment of the Army you have been around, but the battalion I went out with always conducted their missions professionally and without harming civilians. We also brought gifts of food and water to the people, and toys to the children. I never saw the conflict between the military and Iraqi civilians you spoke of. If the Army truely has treated you unjustly, I apologize for them.

Semper Fidelis, everyone.
