Question Decisions..

Hey everyone,
ive had a lot on my mind lately and was wondering if anybody can help me out. I am currently a freshman at a public university here in California. Before i decided to come here, i was really thinking about joining the Air Force because it has always been an interest for me. Well i decided to go to college, but now im having second thoughts. I have almost made my mind up to drop out and join, but havent. As a result of thinking about going into the Air Force, ive havent been up on my grades. What do you think? Should i stay in and get a degree first? Or should i go for it and join? If i were to join i would want to work my way up to become and officer. Any suggestions would be awesome...
Thank you

In my own humble opinion, you should stay in school and get your degree - the more of an education you have the more ALL branches of the military like it. With a degree, you'll be able to start much further up the ladder when you join as well.

Or look into using the military to HELP you finish your degree... There are lots of options. Have you spoken to a recruiter yet? They can give you all the possible scenarios and that might help a bit too...

As a mom, as a friend and relative of military personnel, and as a person who has been in the "real working world" for 25 years I can safely say you will go much further in whatever you choose to do if you focus on your education - either before or during your stint in the military.

Please let us know what you decide!
Best of Luck to You!

Well, it's a plus factor if you'll finish your degree first. It's very important to gain more knowledge and skills through education. Joining in the Air Force is not just a game. It needs ability and strong determination. It would be great if you'll stay in school first before making your dream come true. Education serves as your stepping stone of Success.

Sitck with your education and it will help you in the service. We need educated people with common sense working to keep the country safe.

I agree. Finish your education, then go into the Air Force. Check and see if you can join ROTC in college. You will get the military training at the same time.

ROTC is a good option. I know several people who did the ROTC thing in college, and went into the service at a higher rank.

My daughter is in JROTC, and is in her Sophomore year in High School. She will go into the Air Force as an E-3

But ROTC now is optional, there is already an NSTP for the student to choose. But I highly recommend to impose ROTC back as majority.
