David Blaine breaks world record for holding one's breath

Submerged in a water-filled sphere on the stage of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" during a live broadcast, Blaine held his breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds. That bested the previous record of 16 minutes and 32 seconds, set Feb. 10 by Switzerland's Peter Colat, according to Guinness World Records.

Seriously, is that true?? 17mins and 4 seconds, I can barely hold my breath for a little under a mintue. I have never heard of people holding their breath for that long, it's kinda cool, I guess

Wow, that's pretty amazing! I would definitely fall unconcious after a few minutes ~ lol Anyway, my first thought was why would anyone want to hold there breathe for that long. But, I guess it could be beneficial or come in handy in some way or another!
