Default hi everyone

hello all, my names justin and I hope too one day join the military and have a successful life.

ill tell you a bit about myself...
im 18 still in high school, california
I was held back in 8th grade, from never doing any work in my cl***es, which i deeply regret
I am now in a continuation school, with 125 credits left till i can graduate.
I really would love to get my school and credits straight, but i just have no motivation, at my school they dont really teach you anything...but i barely even show up to school because i lack confidence that one day I can graduate. I still dont do my work because the majority of the work is stuff ive learned in jr high.
i live with my mother and grandparents, mother couldnt take care of me because she was a drug addict and alcoholic and never got her school done, so we moved in with my grandparents placing a helluva burden on them.
My grandfather was in the navy/airforce for 20+ years and my grandmother is a native of japan.
i am also very critical of myself about how I could perform tasks, zero self esteem
im also a weed addict. smoking for four years

I am hoping one day i can finally grow up, go into the military and make my GRANDPARENTS proud, since my mother has done nothing for me, except bring me alot of trouble and anger

i guess i told you a lot more than what a member would tell you about their personal life, but i really have no one to talk about this stuff too

I think it sounds kinda like you need to get off your hiney, get busy with SOMETHING that interests you, quit smokin pot and get on with your life. Everything you described can only be fixed by YOU. We can't fix it, your grandparents can't fix it and your mom can't fix it. And you shouldn't be waiting for them to fix it.

If they don't teach you anything in your school, find some cl***es online that you like. There are lots of free cl***es and lots of inexpensive cl***es as well. There are cl***es about any subject you can imagine. If you can't find anything online that you can learn, look into cl***es at your local parks & rec, or the local comm. college. You can't just give up.

The fact that you recognize that there are things in your life that need to be "fixed" leaves you no excuse for the fact that you are doing nothing about them. You might experience a bit more initiative if you quit doing weed, and persevere until you find what you are looking for in your life. Don't whine about it - do something about it!

Good luck!

Justin,

This situation can not be sugar coded. Life is tough kid and no one is going to hand anything to you on a silver platter. You must work hard to achieve your goals. The reason you lack motivation is because your constantly smokin weed and being negative towards yourself/life. Has'nt your mother's addiction taught you anything? First of all you need to give up smoking pot right away. Secondly you need to get yourself back in gear and start attending school regularly. I understand you say they don't teach you anything and that they're repeating things you've already learned in jr high. However, attending a continuation/alternative school don't they just have you work on packets independently and turn them in at the end of the day/week? Justin, if this is the way your school works than man your wasting your time. You could be racking up the credits right now. I realize your frust***** and your having personal issues with yourself but there are ways to cope with this. What you might want to consider is going to your counselors at school and giving them some insight on your personal situations and struggles. I'm sure they can help you or get you the help you need to deal with some of your frustrations. These days you can not go far without a high school diploma and with that being said I highly advise you to stay in school and earn it. Justin, I don't know you personally but with a little patients and confidence I have faith that you can do it. Good luck to you!

thnx for the reply luv 2 laugh
how my school works they would give me homework ***ignments (worksheets with paragraphs, answer the question type) i would do them, then turn them in and get more.
My first year of going I was attending everyday, I had to show up 1hr early because of the bus schedule and I wud regulary do my work then.
Ive gotten lazy and was tired of waiting for the 2 busses i had to take , each a 40 minute wait and started getting rides to school.
I know im really ...ignorant for ditching all these days considering when i show up I get 3 hours,so in one week I can earn 1 credit, Just for showing up
yes, the weed is killing me slowly i see that probaly as the number one thing thats holding me back
and what wacky chick was talkin about the cl***es online, i did search about it online but not fully read everything the websites i found had to say.
i really had no idea that they would have online cl***es for free, I also have no clue on how the learning would take place, But i will find out the next time I search throughly

If you ever read this topic again luv2laugh when you typed
"However, attending a continuation/alternative school don't they just have you work on packets independently and turn them in at the end of the day/week?"
and
"Justin, if this is the way your school works than man your wasting your time"
Your referring to me not attending school right? and that im not wasting my time because I could enroll in a different school?
i have told a couple other people about the learning situation at my school, and they have also told me I should really try to get into another school. But im not sure i can since im 18 and behind in credits.

Hey Justin,

Thanks for responding to my post in regards to your situation. YES, I was referring to you NOT attending school. Showing up daily and doing your ***ignments is little to no effort to receive 1 credit a week. Since you say you have to bus it and you get there an hour early and finish your work, that just means once school starts you can ask for more work. It's not going to hurt any for you to challenge yourself and see what you can accomplish. As far as there being another school for you to attend "do you mean another continuation school?" You know, there's always cl***es you can enroll in for your GED but with that being said your chances of joining the Military will be slim. I know some of the brances of the military except a GED but under certain cir***stances which I'm not aware of what they consist of. Keep us posted!

It's great to have you, I was going to tell you my opinion but it looks like luv 2 laugh and wackychick did all the talking for me
I hope you take what they said and use as a tool to move forward in your life, there's still time to reach your goals and make your grandparents proud, never give up.
