Lightbulb Students Protest Random Drug Testing Program

LEWISVILLE, Texas - Students are protesting a random drug testing program set to start in Lewisville Independent School District this month.
An online petition against the program has hundreds of signatures, but the district said it has thousands of signed consent forms from parents that allows the testing.
Students without signed consent forms can not participate in extra-curricular activities or drive on campus.
Positive tests will mean a loss of privileges and counseling.

Of course the kids are gonna be outraged! that's what teenagers do best. They'll get over it. I say test 'em. One of my best friends tests her son on a regular basis and of course he has never "failed" one single time! It gives him an excellent "out" when he is faced with the offer a joint or a beer - he doesn't have to worry about any peer pressure at all because he and all his friends know he'll get busted! Brilliant! So far it is working like a charm.

I agree with wacky, the kids will make a stink out of it but in order to be a good parent you must take all precautions necessary when it comes to your childs well being. I too say go for it and test 'em. Even if it's never crosssed your childs mind to experiment with drugs. By having them tested from the get go this just nips it in the bud and keeps them from even going down that road so you ***ume, hope and pray! I do have a question for those parents who would refuse to sign the consent form and that is "why in the world would you not want to participate"?
