For Olympics, chefs won't put on dog
Caninecuisine is being sent to the doghouse during the Beijing Olumpic Gams. Dog meat has been struck from the menus of officially designated Olympic restaurants, and Beijing tourism officials are telling other eateries to discourage customers from ordering dishes made from dogs. Waiters and waitresses should patiently suggest other options to diners who order dog. Dog, known in Chinese as "xiangrou" or "fragrant meat" is eaten by some Chinese for its purported health-given qualities. Dog meat is eaten in some other Asian countries, including South Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines.
