Default Blindly Voting for a Candidate

I heard a news story the other day that made my jaw drop. The general theme of the story was that since Barack Obama is a black man, then all black voters will surely vote for him. And that since Hillary Clinton is a woman, then all woman voters will surely vote for her.

That is just ridiculous. It is hugely insulting to black people and to women because it seems to imply that these two groups of people don't have enough sense to vote for the candidate whose platform most closely matches their own values and beliefs, which as we know, is how one should decide how to cast one's vote.

I believe this is exactly the sort of "profiling", or rather careless stereotyping that creates totally false perceptions about the subject(s), in turn contributing to the ever increasing incredibility of the national media in general.

just m2cw. and btw, I'm a white middle aged woman - THAT is where I'M coming from!

Just an update to this: just this morning I heard a black man utter the very words I did - he said he was insulted and incredulous that [the person doing the interview] ***umes he is voting for Barack Obama simply because the both of them are black. I called THAT one huh?
