Default Would I be throwing my career away?

I am a graphic artist that makes 70k/year doing computer animation and was talking to a friend of mine that has just joined the Navy. He kind of got me interested in joining but I'm not sure if I'd be throwing away and already lucritive career. I'm 31, and would love the change of pace but don't want to end up behind 3 years from now.

Once you get out of boot camp, and your "A" school, you generally have time to yourself when you are off duty. You can keep up online.

I think Navy also have their free time (off-duty) so you can still have time to do your computer animation and it would be your additional income.

Default Think Part Time

I dont know really have the Naval Reserves work. But the Army Reserves will let you serve your country and keep your current job. Although if you came in Army Reserves for some job with computers your training will be long. The upside of that is due to federal law your current employer can not fire you for pursuing a job part time in any branch of service. So if you want your cake and eat it to look into the Navy Reserve
