Exclamation Crossover branch

Hi, I am a Sailor in the Navy a Gunner's Mate and I need information about changing branch. After my enlistment in the Navy i'm thinking to change to the Marines but I wanna know if I have to go through bootcamp with the Marine or not. Also if I do, Would I lost my paygrade or rank?. What benefits do I have? I don't mind going trough bootcamp again but I just don't wanna loose my rank and paygrade.

There is always a chance that you may loose a rank. I cannot say for the Marines, but I know in the Army we do what is called a "Grade Determination Waiver". Simply, it's a form that we submit to command that can tell us what the Army is willing to offer (grade / rank) for people that are considering coversion from one service to another. But just so you know, I processed one guy last week (former Marine) that came into the Active Army at his same Marine pay grade. When it comes down to it, it's a matter of how hard the Recruiting Station wants to work for you in order to get your same rank when you convert over. It Can Be Done though.
