Exclamation I Need to Know

I am in the process of joining the Marines. There are many reasons for joining, but for me, there is only one true reason. I want to be an Air Traffic Controller. I did extremely well on my pre-ASVAB and I am certain that I will p*** my physical. Basically, I am sure that I will qualify for the job.

The problem is that my recruiter says he cannot guarantee that I will get the job even if I qualify. He also says there is no way that he can check to see if there are positions open unless I take my ASVAB and do my physical and swear in. I don't want to be in the position where I've committed 4 years of life for something I really wanted and then find out that even though I qualify for it, I can't get it.

Thanks in advance for any replies, a resolution to this question would be the only thing separating me from becoming a Marine.

Talk to other recruiters for Army, Navy and Air Force, tell them all you want to know if they have the specialty you want before you sign up. Let them all konw you are talking to all of the services. That puts them in a position to make their best offer. Once you sign you lose your negotiating power.
