Yes, i've lived in Portsmouth all my life, but i've always had this m***ive obsession with the US Navy. I think the last American warship to visit us was the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20).

Oh how interesting! Always wanted to visit England! And I WILL someday! Are you younger, or old like me?

I am not too sure about how to find out about the schedules that the ships might have for the year... Don't know how that works. I asked around the office and we think perhaps some of the Public Affairs offices for the Navy might have a clue, but even so, I bet they don't make the itineraries "public" for security reasons... Even so, see if you can find Public Affairs or Public Relations offices on the naval bases and pick their brains...

Doesn't matter, USS Cole visited Pompey last Friday when HMS Illustrious came home from the Gulf after the Orion 08 deployment. She sailed home on Monday morning at 11:30am (Our Time)

The best place to get a good view from is the Round Tower & it wasn't very far as I only live about half a mile from it. I will post the pictures in the next fortnight or so.
