San Diego Submariners Support Family Scholarships

SAN DIEGO (NNS) -- Spouses of San Diego's Submarine Force held the "Run for the Roses" silent auction May 3 to benefit the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization that has awarded nearly 1,000 college scholarships to deserving children of the submarine force for nearly 67 years.

Scholarship award amounts for 2008 are $3,250 per year and may increase to $3,400. These funds are raised by submarine spouses from around the Navy including San Diego's local Submarine Squadron (CSS) 11.

Spouses from CSS 11's senior leadership head local efforts. Kathleen Saunders represents the enlisted community and Paula Jaenichen represents the officer community in the spouse organization.
