Default 1 in 4 Vets is Homeless, 1 in 4 Homeless are Vets

That means of all our Veterans, 25% are homeless.
And of all our homeless persons, 25% are Veterans.

It sounds crazy. It IS crazy. But this appears to be a widely accepted stat about our homeless and our Veterans in this country. The numbers appear to run about the same across the country. It is stated as fact in a large number of reputable publications and web sites.

This is a staggering number and leaves me in shock. We must find out why this apparent pattern is being perpetuated and put a stop to it. Our Veterans should be highly valued citizens in our communities, and while there ARE some who would take advantage of the system, the great majority of our former service members deserve what help they need to ***imilate back into civilian life and become productive members of society.
