Get in the Air as a US Marine Helicopter Specialist

May 19, 2011 By admin

The United States Marine Corps needs to be able to get to any location as quickly as possible in as short of a period of time as possible. One of the main ways in which this is made possible is through the use of a helicopter. The helicopter crews have the ability to bring supplies to those in need as well as to extricate crews, land crews and defend locations. It is the reason why the USMC helicopter specialist is so important.

What You Will Do

What you will do will depend mostly on the specific MOS that you held before being transferred into this position. You will use the information that you have as well as the training that you will receive to maintain helicopters such as the AH-IW and UH-1N. You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining every aspect of the helicopter from the engine functions to the aircrew safety equipment that will be needed in order to make sure the helicopter can be used appropriately.

Get the Training

You will have to first meet all of the training requirements of the primary H-1 MOS. You will then go through specialized training including training for the specific MOS that you will be filling. You will also go through training to work on the specific helicopter that you will be assigned to. This will help to make sure that you will be able to keep these birds in the air.
