How to Join the National Guard Reserves

November 23, 2011 By admin

Are you interested in joining the National Guard Reserves? This is a dream that many people share. Regardless of your past military experience, if you want to become part of the Reserves there is nothing that should stand in your way.

Fortunately, it is easier than ever to join the National Guard Reserves. The Guard makes the process simple and efficient, ensuring that you get involved as soon as possible.

Apply Online

In the past, this option was not available. However, things have changed a lot over the past five to ten years. Applying online is one of the quickest ways to join the National Guard Reserves. First things first, you need to fill out the pre-qualification form. This form requires basic information, such as your name, birthday, and past military experience.

As you move through the online application process, you will find that you are closer than ever to joining. Of course, just because you complete an application does not mean you are obligated to join. This is just the first step in the process.

Meet with a Recruiter

Are you looking for one-on-one assistance? Do you have questions to ask before applying and joining the National Guard Reserves? In this case, you will want to meet with a recruiter before you do anything else. At this time, if you feel that you are ready to move forward your recruiter can walk you through the application process.

Even if you apply online, you will eventually find yourself meeting with a recruiter ? this is part of the process that benefits both you and the National Guard.

Am I Eligible?

Not everybody is eligible to join the National Guard Reserves. There are certain requirements that you must meet. In short, you need to meet the following requirements:

– United States citizen or permanent resident alien

– Between the ages of 17 and 35 (some exceptions apply, such as if you have past military experience)

– Meet all medical, moral, and physical requirements

To get started, your best bet is to complete the online application or get in touch with a National Guard recruiter in your area. From there, you will be on the right track to joining the Reserves and serving your country.
