The United States Marine Corps is one of the first on the scene in any major conflict. This means all combatants must be able to assess the situation as soon as they are on the scene. Part of the assessment which needs to be made is in regards to the structure of the roads and the buildings in a given area. This includes the roads and buildings the American troops will be using as well as the structures which will be used by the opposition. This is a duty which is given to the combat engineer.
Half of your job will be to rebuild, or build initially the roads and other structures which will be used by the United States and the community as a whole. This can be to make sure that the buildings will be able to be useful as command structures or for housing. They will also be reinforced so that they will withstand future attacks.
The other side to your job will be to analyze and demolish structures. This can be to make way for better structures. It also can be to help in the destruction of facilities which are being used by the opposition forces. You will also be called upon to help out with different tasks like clearing mine fields.
