Continued Coalition And Iraqi Security Seek Explosives
The forces of the Iraqi Security Soldiers work hard, and they have been successful in keeping the peace in 11 of the 18 provinces. They have not only worked successfully in keeping things going, but they have also been able to keep the momentum that the coalition started.
The members and soldiers of the US military Third Armored Cavalry Regiment helped a Iraqi Army effort in searching for weapons in different locations in the little villages around Mosul. It was a successful effort led by the members of the Iraqi Army, with the coalition being in support.
?Our mission was very productive, and the members of the Iraqi Security Forces have been successful in working together, showing how well they have learned what we have been teaching them.? Said Staff Sergeant Christopher Lewis.
Sgt. Lewis is a soldier with Hawk Troop, 3/3 ACR, and a member of the MNF Coalition Forces.
The weapons search was successful going house to house, and visiting with citizens as they searched their houses. They were very well received, which is a big change from how things were a number of months ago, when the citizens did not react well.
Weapons were discovered in two houses, but only one was an amount that proved to be an insurgent weapons cache, the other was merely two rifles belonging to the occupants.
