Light Wheel Enlisted Navy Mechanic

One of the more challenging mechanical careers in the US Navy is the light wheel Navy vehicle mechanic. They are the specialists that keep the US Navy light wheel vehicle fleet in operation. You will be an integral member of the Navy Maintenance Mechanical team. A mechanic in the enlisted light wheel force is a person that maintains and repairs equipment both on shore, and aboard vessels of the US Navy Fleet.

This is a position that can benefit from the Navy Apprenticeship program, and you can work to gain civilian credit while performing your active duty mission. The Vehicle Light wheel Mechanic is responsible for performing recovery and maintenance of associated items, light wheeled vehicles, and well as assisting on heavy wheeled automotive and military vehicles. If you have a background in industrial arts, or past experience in vehicle maintenance and repair then you may be well suited for this career. You will inspect and maintain wheeled vehicles, suspension systems, hydraulic steering systems, and power assisted brake systems. Working as a Navy Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic involves a person in keeping heavy equipment and vehicles in top working order. The Mechanic Light Wheel team member works with repair of vehicles and maintenance and repair of trucks, cars, jeeps and other vehicles. The Navy provides a method where you can literally receive credit for up to half of the required hours needed for Civilian apprenticeship programs. You will work to troubleshoot brakes and suspensions, electrical systems, steering and vehicle engines. The United States Navy has a training program for 10 weeks involving radiators, body panels, fenders, engine and transmission repairs, and light wheel maintenance issues. If you work well working with physical work, and have a knack for troubleshooting and repair of mechanical problems, or if you know how to troubleshoot engines and vehicles then this could be a lucrative position for you. Job training for an Navy Light Wheel Vehicle repairperson will involve 9 weeks of Individual advanced training at Navy Basic Combat training. After basic training you will then attend advanced training, where you will learn the required skills. The United States Navy maintains a cadre of trained and skilled light wheel enlisted mechanics.

They work on all different types of equipment that is found in the United States Navy fleet. As a member of the Navy mechanic team you will be responsible for repairing and tuning engines, following schedules and establishing repair maintenance for Navy fleet vehicles.
