Marine Corps Communications Careers

The Marine Corps Communications Career is one that has many different specialties. One of them is the field of Marine Corps High Frequency communications specialist. It is a control and command area of the Marine Corps and a field of occupational communications inside of the Marine Corps. Marines in this specialty work to operate radios, perform cryptographic and deciphering duty, and work in a variety of different communications and intelligence operations.

A Marine that serves in the High Frequency communications field performs different types of preventative maintenance and service on Teletype, radio cryptographic and telephonic equipment. They work on a variety of different high and low frequency radio equipment, and deal with a number of different communications issues. Marine Corps enlisted personnel that are interested in this, as a career should be able to speak and read English fluently, and possess the ability to manage and tolerate stress well. A candidate for this job will have the flexibility to remain focused despite different distractions, and have the ability to work in close quarters for long periods of time without a break. A Marine Corps candidate for this MOS should be comfortable with working in close and cramped positions with other people. This is a MOS rating that requires a high security clearance; in some situations a Marine candidate must be eligible for a Top Secret security clearance. Entry-level positions in this field include working as a Satellite communications operator, working as a small systems computer operator, or as a general radio operator. The High frequency MOS designator for this job specialty identified different Marine Corps personnel who are qualified to perform, operate, install and align different Radio communications gear and equipment systems. Some of the different requirements for this position include:
-Must be a US citizen at time of application.
-Complete the Communications Marine Central system installer course
-Score on EL test of one hundred or higher.

By the very nature of this job the Marine Corps Communications system specialist is located at the control and command center, where decisions are made and orders given. As you rise in responsibility, rank and level you will be tasked with helping to train men and women that are junior to yourself in the field of Marine Corps communications.
