Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal Careers Not For The Timid

Working with explosives is a job specialty that takes dedication, expert training and careful handling. US Marine Corps Personnel that serve as explosive ordnance disposal specialists work to make sure that explosive materials are properly handled and in some cases disposed of. Explosives disposal specialists working in the Marine Corps are experts that deal with all different types of explosives. The different type of ammunition, weapons and explosive ordnance that the US Marine Corps EOD Specialist varies considerably. They deal with all different types of explosives, including IED devices, conventional explosives, biological and nuclear weapons, even chemical explosives and weapons are deal with by US Marine Corps Specialists.

Can You Live With Stress?

As a senior enlisted Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist you will be responsible to train and supervise junior members of your own team or others in the same training discipline. Skills you are given in your training will be updated and kept current with ongoing Marine Corps school opportunities, and on the job training. An Explosive Disposal Specialist has to deal with a variety of stressful situations and have the ability to function as a team member. You will have opportunities to use your skills to dispose of and neutralize various weapons and munitions in service to your country. As a Marine Corps EOD specialist, you will also work toward identifying and disposing of different types of explosive ordnance. The handling and storage of ammunition is a specialty that takes a steady hand. This job calls for a steady hand and steady nerves.

If you are able to function as part of a well-trained team, and have a lot of patience, then this is a job you likely will excel at. You will receive training and skills during your Marine Corps Explosive Ordnance Disposal training will equip you not only for a long career in the military should you so choose, but also as a well trained civilian specialist that could serve in a variety of civilian careers. If you have an ability to communicate effectively, and possess an interest in sciences, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry and algebra, or if you can work well under stress, this may be the job for you. Explosives are something that are difficult to deal with and a material that takes precise handling, explosives Disposal Specialist deals with ordnance and weaponry in highly tense situations.

    I was just wondering about re-enlisting in the USMC for EOD and was curious as to what the re-enlistment bonus might be? In addition to that being something that I’m interested in doing, the money would also greatly help with my financial strain. Can you give me any info?

    I was doing some research my self and I found out that the re-enlistment bonus is 52,000 to 80,000!!! INSANE RIGHT???
