October 21, 2011 By admin

There are many reasons to enlist in one of the many branches of the Military. Competitive pay and great benefits attract many people. Why fight for a job as a civilian when you can enlist in the Military and be guaranteed a position that you will enjoy? Along with this, there is something to be said for the security of your job ? you never have to worry about being laid off.

It is no surprise that members of the Military are paid well and receive numerous benefits. However, you may still have a few related questions.

What is the pay rate for different services and ranks?

While base pay at each rank stays the same across every Service level, there are other factors that affect how much you earn.

The Military compensation chart may seem complicated, but it really comes down to two details: base pay and special pay. As noted above, base pay stays the same across all branches of the Military and increases based on time served and rank. Special pay is awarded for a variety of reasons, such as choosing a high demand career field.

Contact a local military recruiter for detailed compensation information.

Do I have to pay for health care?

No. This is by far one of the biggest benefits of being part of the Military. No matter if you are full-time or part-time, your health care is taken care of. In today?s day and age, there are nearly 50 million people without health insurance. Fortunately, if you enlist in the Military you never have to worry about this.

Can I serve in the Military while earning a college degree?

Yes. It is a myth that you have to choose one or the other. Not only are you in position to work towards your degree, but the Military provides a variety of financial assistance programs. Although this is a lot of extra work, if you are successful in receiving your degree it will pay-off in the long run.

How much financial support will I receive towards my education?

This depends on your current standing in the Military as well as your educational goals. Some of the most popular programs include: tuition assistance, GI Bill, Loan Repayment Programs, College Fund Programs, Community College of the Air Force, and Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges.

With the ability to receive benefits of up to $50,000, it is easy to see that the Military is dedicated to helping personnel better their education.
