Mountain Warrior US Marine Infantry Careers

October 14, 2008 By admin

After the Korean War in the 1950?s, the US Marine Corps realized that they needed to have a method to train their Servicemembers in how to fight in very cold environments. So the US Marine Corps Mountain Warrior training program was born. This training helps maintain the elite fighting Marine Corps soldiers, and its called the Mountain Training Warrior Training Facility, located in California. The Marine Corps realized at the end of World War II that they needed to have training in harsh conditions, the different conditions that they will face in real life.

The mountain training for Marine Corps personnel was first established just after World War II in the year 1951. It was created to give mountain training and cold weather preparation for soldiers that were headed for Korea, and later for soldiers that serve in inclement and harsh conditions around the world. The Marine Corps are the ones that are the first in, and they are the infantry forces for much of the American Military. As such, they established a facility in the Toiyabe National Forest in California, among the Mountains in beautiful California. The training facility has snow at times up to eight feet Deep, and it can get down to single digit temperatures for weeks at a time. The Marine Mountain Training Warfare Center is functioning parts of the Air Task Force and Marine Corps Ground Command. The efforts at the Mountain Training Center are supported by Marine Corps/West Installations, as well as other units of Joint Services and Allied Forces. The Marine Corps are the elite operators for individual and unit evolutions for mountain, cold weather and high altitude harsh conditions. The training that is received is under a number of different conditions, and it is very grueling to learn in high altitude, at times sub zero temperatures on the foothills of snow capped mountains.

Marines attend the training program to learn how to be Marine Corps Mountain Warriors, to live, learn train and survive in harsh conditions so that they are ready if ever faced with these conditions in real life. The military Vision of the Marine Corps Mountain Training Warfare Center in California provides relevant training, education and learning for Marine Corps Mountain Warriors.
