Generation Plant Gives Needed Energy For Region
The temperature in Iraq is in the triple digits and the overall demand for electricity is great, not only for things like air conditioners, but other appliances and uses that citizens elsewhere in the world take for granted. Items like washing machines and vacuum cleaners require electricity, and the electricity has not been available until recently.
Electricity is now available in some areas because of the restoration of different generating plants, such as the Mussayib Gas Generation Power plant. This plan was restored as a result of a partnership between the government of Iraq, the Coalition, as well as efforts by skilled Iraqi workmen and citizens of the region.
Restoring the electric plant was a $26 million dollar project that has been adding valuable electricity to the power grid, and is well on the way to assisting the overall growth of the Iraqi community.
About 400 mega watts of power will be available on the power grid that was previously not available, this is enough power to support about 36,000 Iraqi homes.
The beauty of the Mussayib plant is that there is a refinery plant that is being located at the sight. It is a win win operation, the power plant will generate power that will support the refinery, and the refinery will turn out a variety of fuel products including diesel fuel that will power the electric plant. Each will benefit from the product of the other, and it is a complementary situation for both plants.
