National Guard Career Training

March 21, 2011 By admin

Everybody has their own reason for joining the National Guard. If you want to become part of this group you need to learn a thing or two about training. In short, you are no good to the National Guard unless you are properly trained. Fortunately, they know exactly what they are doing in this area.

If you want to request more information on the National Guard, including details on career training, click here.

When you join the National Guard the first thing you will do is go through 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training. This is something that every new member has to do ? so don?t feel like you are being singled out. While this is sure to be a difficult time in your life it is going to make you a better person. The skills that you learn during basic training may help save your life in the future.

Basic Combat Training is important, but it is far from the last thing you will do. From there, Advanced Individual Training gets underway. How much time you spend with this type of training depends on your career specialty.

With more than 150 available jobs in the National Guard you need to choose the one that suits you best. While doing so, make sure you learn as much as you can about the training that you will receive. There are some jobs that only require a few weeks of Advanced Individual Training. There are others that call for a year or more. Are you willing to get involved with a position that calls for a lot of training?

Take for instance a medical career. This is a broad field. On the low end of the spectrum, there are jobs that only require six weeks of training. Not so bad, right? But as you learn more and more about this field, you will find positions that need up to 54 weeks of training. This is a long time, but some jobs require that you learn a lot.

Is National Guard career training really that important? Some people wonder why they need to do much beyond Basic Combat Training and a few weeks in their specialty. Remember, the skills you learn are going to help you serve your country to the best of your ability. You need to know the ins and outs of your career, no matter what it may be.

Also, keep one other detail in mind: your National Guard training will be put to good use later in life as well. When you move onto a civilian position it is much easier to succeed if you have the appropriate training ? and that is just what the National Guard gives you.

If you want to join the National Guard do not let a lot of training hold you back. This may sound like work, but in the end you will realize just how important it is. The training that you receive is invaluable. Cherish the opportunity to receive training from the best of the best.
