Navy Gateways Inns & Suites and DoD Government Lodging Available Through the Defense Travel System

June 1, 2015 By admin

JUNE 1, 2015, WASHINGTON (NNS) – Starting in June 2015, Navy Gateways Inns & Suites (NGIS) lodging reservations and Department of Defense (DoD) lodging services will be available for DoD travelers on official temporary duty travel to book directly through the Defense Travel System (DTS).

DoD travel policy requires military members TDY to a government installation to stay in government (DoD) lodging facilities when available and directed in their orders/authorization.

DTS is being modified to allow Navy, Air Force and Army military and government civilian travelers to book DoD government lodging. Travelers can still make their lodging reservations through www.dodlodging.net or by calling 1-877-NAVY- BED, but with lodging accommodations available through DTS, travelers on official government business will experience a one-stop shop when making travel arrangements – and visibility into all DoD lodging resources.

DoD Lodging properties bookable through DTS meet strict quality and safety and security requirements, and offer many traveler amenities and conveniences.

“Integrating the ability to book government/DoD lodging through DTS is an added convenience for all our official government travelers as it provides a single point of access for reservations, incorporates lodging information into travel documents (authorization/voucher), and automatically secures a non-availability confirmation number as required by policy when government lodging is directed but not available,” said Tamara Davis, Navy Installations Command, Navy Lodging program director.

NGIS offers more than 24,000 guest rooms at military installations worldwide and is considered Priority-One lodging for all TDY travelers, offering professionally managed quality lodging and services while helping guests meet fiscal and mission goals.

NGIS delivers comfortable accommodations with cost-saving room rates to all active duty, retirees, reservists, DoD civilians and sponsored guests. Travelers in a leisure status are also accommodated when space is available. In-room amenities include free Internet service, free premium cable TV, coffee, newspapers, refrigerator, microwave and housekeeping. Amenities also include guest laundry and business center.
