Navy Reserve ? Learn more about Insurance

November 7, 2011 By admin

There are many reasons to become part of America?s Navy Reserve. From the benefits of protecting your country to the pay and everything in between, you don?t want to overlook the advantages.

Are you aware of the insurance benefits that you will receive as part of this branch of the military? This benefit is often times overlooked as enlistees focus on other details such as base pay and bonuses.

Having the proper type and amount of life insurance and health insurance is very important. When you belong to the Navy Reserve you can get the insurance you need at a rate you can afford.

Health Insurance

Depending on your status, you and your family members may be eligible to receive dental and medical benefits through the Department of Defense health care program ? known as TRICARE.

With this insurance, you are required to use military facilities for treatment of injuries or illness. However, this only holds true during times in which you are training.

TRICARE provides coverage for all of the following:

– Outpatient visits

– Mental and behavioral health

– Hospitalization

– Maternity care

– Immunizations

– Preventive services

There are many different types of TRICARE, providing coverage to roughly 9.6 million people around the globe: TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Prime Remote, TRICARE Prime Overseas, TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas, TRICARE Standard and Extra, US Family Health Plan, TRICARE for Life, TRICARE Standard Overseas, TRICARE Reserve Select, TRICARE Retired Reserve, and TRICARE Young Adult.

TRICARE Reserve Select is the plan designated for National Guard and Reserve members.

Life Insurance

As a Reservist, you qualify for term life insurance under the Servicemembers? Group Life Insurance plan. With affordable rates and the ability to receive up to $400,000 in coverage, you can rest easy knowing that you will be leaving plenty of money behind should something happen to you.

Thanks to the Family Servicemembers? Group Life Insurance plan, term life insurance can be extended to both your spouse and dependent children. Up to $100,000 is available for your spouse and $10,000 (no cost) for eligible dependents.

When you join America?s Navy Reserve you gain access to many types of insurance. With the right health and life insurance plans in place, you will feel much better about the future of you and your family.
