New Marine Corps Website, Application Shares Future with Public

April 29, 2014 By admin

FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. – The Marine Corps recently launched a website and mobile application, which outline its operational and structural future.

The Marine Corps Concepts & Programs website and application will replace the yearly almanac. Unlike the almanac, these new outlets will automatically update allowing the Marine Corps to provide up to the information.

?The process of gathering this information every year takes about five months, but now with this construct we can update immediately.? Said Maj. Dave Lemke, the concept developer for the website and application. ?With a year no longer associated, this tool meets an enduring requirement to educate key players in Washington and everyone else about where their Corps is heading and what we are up to.?

Lemke, a self-proclaimed, lifelong nerd, works with the Marine Corps Emergent Force Development Division located at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va.

Both new outlets serve as a one-stop shop for a variety of Marine Corps facts, figures and plans. It divides this banquet knowledge into five digestible categories: concepts, organization, programs, almanac and resources.

The concept section breaks down the vision of Expeditionary Force 21. This vision will guide the Corps through the next 10 years to meet emerging demands for responsiveness. This section defines the Marine Corps and how it will operate to overcome obstacles and accomplish the missions the Corps may face tomorrow or in the future.

The organization section breaks down how the Marine Corps is structured. Users can search for and discover information concerning how commands are structured and how they perform.

The programs section covers all the equipment, vehicles and training the Corps uses and is developing for future combat operations or humanitarian response all over the globe.

Ever wonder how many Marines are serving their country? The almanac section allows visitors to find out quick facts, such as this, at the click of a mouse.

The resource section offers information about how the Marine Corps is allocating its budget. It also offers additional fiscal information about the use of aircraft and ground equipment, which could be put in any Marine?s toolbox to share with other Marines.

The website and application can be downloaded for Android smart phones from the Google Play store and Apple?s App Store for no charge.

?I think every savvy Marine will have this app on their smart phone,? Lemke said. ?It provides up-to-minute information on the Corps? biggest topics, keeping them relevant and on top of an ever-evolving fighting force.?
