Patriot Missile Operator Army Careers

The missile operator is one of the most important posts in the Patriot Missile battery. The Missile launching station-enhanced operator is the person who actually fires the Patriot missile at the enemy. The Patriot is a missile that is designed to launch advanced technology missiles at the target, and it is capable of taking out multiple targets at the same time. The missile battery of a Patriot missile station consists of the communications relay group, the power plant, the control station, and up to seven or eight different launching stations. The Operator of the Patriot missile system works directly with the launching Patriot missile stations.

The job responsibilities for the Patriot station launching Operator and enhanced crewmember includes handling ammunition for the Patriot, operating specific launcher electronic patriot missile systems, operating and using the Patriot missile launching system, and placement of the system and Patriot launch system in the field. Working in the Patriot Missile launch system organization requires the candidate to be in good condition as you have to life items that are very heavy and act in strenuous activity for periods of time without a rest break. Besides being in top mental and physical shape, you should have normal color vision because much of the equipment and ammunition for the Patriot missile system is color-coded.

Basic Combat Training is the first step for all enlisted members of the Army. After your 9-week basic training, you will attend an 11-week individual advanced training school which will instruct you in classroom training and simulated combat training. You will learn skills in battle strategy and artillery tactics, how to operate rocket, missile and gun launching systems that are unique to the Patriot missile battery, and how to operate different technologies that are also specific to the Patriot missile systems.

If you pursue a career in Patriot Launching station operations you will have opportunities to keep your skills state of the art, with operations and schools that allow you to advance your training and skills. If you have rocket and cannon system interest or experience or interest in electronic systems or electronic, or if you are skilled in mathematics this may be a job specialty you will excel in. You should be in top physical shape, and have the ability to remain calm under stress.
