There are many different kinds of weapons which are used on a regular basis in the United States Marine Corps. It is necessary that all of these different weapons operate properly at all times to make sure that the soldiers will be able to properly do their job. One of the most often used weapons are those which are classified as small arms. This is why the job of the small arms repairer/technician in the US Marines is so important.
What You Will Do
You will be in charge of repairing and maintaining all small arms. While you will not work on vehicle mounted small arms to begin with, you will eventually be able to learn how to work even on these arms so that they will be in good operational condition at all times. You will help to maintain those arms which are used for training as well as those which are used in the field.
Get the Training
Before getting started in your career you will have to go through the right kind of training. You will have to learn how to maintain all arms through the Complete Ground Ordnance Intermediate Level Supervisors Course. You will also receive training while on the job so that you will be able to advance in career and in responsibility. You will also learn how to go from small arms to those which are mounted on vehicles as well.
