Technical Jobs in the Navy as an Information System Technician

March 4, 2011 By admin

Computers are a very important part of the everyday life in the majority of the world. The United States Navy is no exception. In fact, many of the defense and offensive systems would not work properly if not for the help of a computer. Of course, just to be able to stay in touch with the rest of the fleet and with the command centers it is necessary for the computer systems to always work properly. This is the reason why the job of the Information system technician is so important.

What You Will Do

You will be in charge of setting up, updating and maintaining all of the different information systems on board the vessels or base in which you are working on. You will complete many of the same tasks which someone in the IT department will be expected to complete when they are working in a normal business setting. You will also help to make sure that all of the personal computers on board will have the system they will need to operate properly.

Get the Training

In order to make sure that you know what you are doing, you will go through specialized training in an A school after you go through basic training. You will learn much of the same information which those in the civilian world will pay thousands of dollars for. Best of all, you will automatically get to work in your field to get the experience you will need.
