This year was certainly the case this year, when the US Navy celebrated its 232 anniversary with grand style. The US Navy, which is in operations mostly by sea for the protection and defense of the United States, is one of the main holds for the United States military. The US Navy also has some of the biggest amounts of troops, otherwise called seamen, enrolled into its program.
It was in October of 1775 that the Continental Congress recognized that there was a need for defenses for our country in the waters that border the United States and beyond. With the military presence that is available with the Navy, the Navy slowly grew into the strong threshold that it is today. The Navy plays a vital role for the military, as it works with sonar detection, an important part of the military’s defenses. The Navy also recruits doctors and nurses for the assistance of helping others aboard Naval ships, such as the USNS Comfort.
The Navy is one of the longest forms of military defense that our country has seen, right next to the United States Army. All forces of the United States military inadvertently work together with one another, and are all serving a purpose to defend the United States, its civilians, as well as offer assistance to those that are in need. Thanks to the constant need for military protection, the Navy has seen 232 years of service, and are bound to see many more.
