Top Ten Military Careers for Women For 2014

The careers women choose and what they pursue in the military are similar to those they pursue in civilian life. One obvious exception is the infantry; for now, women are excluded from combat. Military careers for women are expanding.
With thousands of possibilities are available to women as military careers and as training grounds for post-military careers.

What?s the best way for a woman to determine a military career? One way is to ask herself: What career would I choose in civilian life? In most cases, the military offers an identical or similar career path, with topnotch ‘on the job’ training. After finishing your enlistment, you?ll have a choice of making the military a career or using your training to pursue a civilian career. Not to mention getting all the veteran benefits long after your enlistment!

Here are 10 popular career fields for military women:

#1: Media and Design Jobs
The military creates its own brochures, training videos, posters and more. Creative, talented designers are in demand.

#2: Aviation Jobs
This is a wide-open field for women. Learn to fly aircraft of all types, or consider a ground job, such as air traffic controller.

#3: Communications/Public Relations Jobs
Have some writing talent? Do you like to create publications or videos? Consider a career in communications or public relations.

#4: Counseling and Social Work Jobs
Women who have a desire to help people may find a rewarding career in counseling, social work or human services.

#5: Engineering Jobs
Engineering is a high-paying, rewarding occupation, and civilian companies actively seek women engineers. Whether it?s electrical, nuclear or construction engineering, virtually every type of civilian engineer has a military counterpart.

#6: Environmental Health and Safety
Women who serve in these positions may be called on to serve at sites of disasters, including floods, earthquakes and more.

#7: Health Care Jobs
The field of ?health care? encompasses so many possibilities that it?s impossible to list them all here. You can receive training as a surgeon, a nurse, a radiation therapist and much more.

#8: Military careers for women in Human Resources
If you like people, and you enjoy helping them make their career decisions, you may be interested in a human resources specialist position.

#9: Linguistics and International Relations Jobs
Have a flair for languages? Like to travel? Can you speak multiple languages? The military always needs linguists to support worldwide operations.

#10: Agriculture Jobs
Women hold numerous agriculture-related jobs in the military, which has more than 2,000 agricultural positions available.

    My daughter is a graduate assistant in college working on her masters and was wanting to join up in the Navy. What fields would be open for her? Her major in college was Elementary Education which graduated with.
