Transition Assistance Veterans Benefits

July 22, 2008 By admin

Servicemembers who are returning from active duty often face challenges as they transition to civilian life. There are things that are available to help people who want to avail themselves of the benefits provided. These are benefits that are set up to make the transition back to civilian life and make things as smooth as possible for everyone. Some of the services that can be included are group counseling, medical referrals, bereavement counseling, medical referrals, individual counseling, filing for VA benefits, alcohol and Drug counseling, as well as outreach and community services.

One of the identified services that the Congress and the Veterans administration Services has set up is the counseling for readjustment. Providing for the eventual absorbing and readjustment has been done by setting up unique VA Centers that are designed for different types of counseling and readjustment. By providing services it?s a way Congress has shown honor and appreciation to those that have served and to give servicemembers a chance to process and deal with their war time experiences. Congress worked to set up the VA Readjustment Center because there were a large number of different people that seemed to be struggling after the Vietnam War, and that were not having the services that they needed. Assistances, Counseling and different personnel services were set up beginning in 1979 to deal with the situation and assist Veterans in becoming successful in the community and in their own personal lives. How can you tell if you are eligible for Veterans Center Counseling or readjustment assistance? If you have served in combat and are returning to civilian life, you have benefits available to help ease the transition. Readjustment counseling is one of the benefits available to those that have served in combat, to help make the transition from military service back to civilian life successful. There is also different information on community and outreach resources, and employment and job counseling. The Veterans administration also sponsors counseling for family members of Servicemembers, and these family services have been offered since 1979.
